Measurements of HDL cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, and TG are insufficient for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. The importance of measuring lipoprotein particle sizes has been pointed out by academicians, with a focus on LDLs with small particle sizes, the so-called small dense LDLs that are believed to contribute to the development of atherosclerosis.
LipoSEARCH provides chromatograms with which it is possible to visually understand whether samples are normal or not. Further, data on cholesterol and TG levels of each fraction and on lipoprotein particle sizes are provided.
VLDL peak of TG is characteristic of diabetic patients.
VLDL, which is rich in TG, increases as TG metabolism decreases due to lower LPL activity.
No HDL peak is observed.
VLDL and LDL cholesterol increased.
